Ruo just mentioned something that made me remember how costly it is, compared to Singapore, to buy a mechanical pencil here in Copenhagen. A mechanical pencil here costs 39.95DKK (at least for the few shops I gone to) which is around S$11. It gives me a heartache when I know I can get one at S$1.50 back in Singapore! So, I've been surviving on a pencil that I borrowed from Ruo since I lost mine during my first week here:( So sad!!
Things aren't totally bad here though. The prices of some things are comparable to those we find in Singapore, and at times, it's just too hard to search for something that is cheap. Rather, it's easier to pick the cheapest brand of the item we want off the shelves or just choose something that is a better value-for-money. Sometimes, getting something nice like cookies or nutella is a treat for ourselves so we just choose something that doesn't cost too much.
These few days I've realised what is important for us to bring over: Packets of food mixes- lots of them because they're really easy to prepare and they taste really good! Packets of herbal tea if you want, because they don't necessarily have those that you like in Copenhagen. Nice clothing, because I THINK the girls dress pretty well here. At least I think they all look nice in what they wear:) Whereas what I usually wear is rather casual :) Bring nice scarves that go with your sweaters, for the obvious reasons.
Stationery and Food. haha. I think these are the MOST important things after warm clothing! Especially so when the food and stationery have to last for 5 months and you don't intend to ship anything over from Singapore:)
